Anyone got a tail bag for their sport or standard bike? Whatcha got and how do you like it?
I am looking at the Nelson Rigg expandable tail bag on closeout at New Enough, but wanted to get any thoughts you all might have before pulling the trigger.

I have almost the exactl same bag but without side pockets i think

its why I had the grab rail on the SV, so the bag would sit against it

If you're just looking for something for daily riding and not really big for touring, I would recommend the Axio hard shell tail bags. I've had a number of soft shell bags and they tend to fade and get beat up. The Axio has a clear protective coat over the base coat and come in various colors to match your bike. It also has a pocket just for sunglasses.

So, how do you like it Doug? I am mostly interested in using it for my work commute, but would like to have the extra space for a long ride if needed.

C'mon Doug...you have 20K to drop on a bike and you're saying $100 for a tail bag is expensive??

I like the style and the durability. It holds up to 2 liters. There are two separate zip compartments, one for sunglasses and a larger one that can fit a Big Mac. I comes with a net that attaches to loops on the side of the bag itself. I was able to strap a helmet on top of it using the net.

I mostly used it when I ride and work out in the AM

fit my shoes, toilety bag, and work clothes just fine!

only thing it really needed was a shoulder strap or backpack strap as it got annoying to carry a long distance by the suitcase style handle, but I understand why thats all it had.

you are welcome to borrow it and try it out!

I wish I had 20K to drop on that R7, but sadly I don't!

I've heard nothing but good things about that Nelson Rigg tail bag, especially at that price.

Personally though, I went with a magnetic tank bag, the Rapid Transit Recon 19: http://newenough.com/parts/luggage/tank ... k_bag.html

It isn't as big as a tail bag, so if you're really going to be packing a lot of stuff in there to and from work (ie a laptop), it probably won't work well for you. But the plus side is its way easier to get on and off the bike with a tank bag on versus a tail bag. Just something to think about. Convenience is a big factor for me, otherwise it ends up sitting in the closet.

I have one of these Cortech sport tail bags. seems to work well though I don't really have anything to compare it with. It has a big (removable, i think) foam rubber piece on the bottom the keep it from sliding around on the seat. The bungie cords are built in and attach to my bungie cord holders on the ninja 500. I sometimes worry about the plastic ends of the bungies scratching the paint but i think it has probably been on the bike for 1000 miles or so with no scratches yet.

It comes with some sort of rain cover and a strap so you can wear it like a purse if you want. They also have saddle bags that work with this thing and buckle all together.

I don't put much in it except maybe the liner for my jacket and a clear visor for my helmet. It is expandable side to side though.

I'm getting rid of the Axio bag because it's too small and I need something that can carry a helmet and a laptop. I saw this Cargo Endurance bag in fatigue online. It looks sweet. Anyone have a bag they use that can sport around a laptop, at least? The dimension of this bag are 17.75" x 11.37" x 13.87".

Mine would easily swallow a laptop and is still on closeout.

I ended up getting the Saddlemen TS3200DE Deluxe Tail Bag:

http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index.ph ... ts_id=7098

I don't want to swap bags when I'm in town or traveling so I just went with a carry all. This bag has expansion units on each end that are detachable so I can take them off when I'm riding in town.

This is what I have as well I love it. It surely is nice holds my large laptop and my macbook, a few jeans and t shirts socks and underwear then I throw on my (garbage icon tank bag only because the tank on my bike isnt fully magnetic) and put in some shoes passenger seat if I think I may need it, some towels some other knick knack things like chain lube lol you name it.
